The Institute of Orientalism (IOO), Mianwali was established in August 2022 (Muharram 1444 AH). It is an academic and research institution dedicated to providing scholarly services in the fields of Orientalism, Eastern Studies, and intercultural studies. The institute aims to promote academic dialogue, encourage research activities, and provide high-quality scholarly material in the Urdu language.
The primary objectives of the establishment of the institute are as follows:
1. To translate and publish the research works and writings of Orientalists and Muslim scholars on Orientalism, Eastern Studies, and related fields into the Urdu language.
2. To promote academic research, critical studies, intellectual dialogue, and scholarly awareness in the fields of Orientalism and intercultural studies.
3. To organize academic and research activities aimed at promoting interfaith dialogue, mutual respect, social tolerance, and peaceful coexistence in order to strengthen intellectual and scholarly relations among different religions, civilizations, and cultures.
To achieve these objectives, the Institute will organize the following academic, research, and educational activities according to available resources:
* Preparation, editing, translation, and publication of books, research papers, articles, and academic material on Orientalism, Eastern Studies, Islamic Studies, and related subjects.
* Publication of a research journal on Orientalism and related fields, along with the establishment of a website, YouTube channel, and digital library to facilitate access to academic and research materials.
* Organization of online courses, webinars, lectures, conferences, seminars, workshops, and academic sessions on topics related to Orientalism, Islamic Studies, interfaith relations, and intercultural studies.
* Promotion of academic cooperation, institutional links, and joint research and educational activities with national and international universities, research centers, and academic institutions.
* Encouragement of scholarly initiatives aimed at promoting intellectual dialogue, balanced thinking, mutual respect, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence in society.
The Institute of Orientalism Mianwali believes that academic research, critical study, and intercultural dialogue are not only means of intellectual development but also play an effective role in promoting better understanding, social harmony, and peaceful coexistence among different nations, religions, and civilizations.
